Season 3, Episode 4: Finding equanimity in Golf - with Dr Rashmeen Nirmal

This week I chat to the founder of Golf PHD, an evidence based performance firm, helping Golfers to enjoy improved mental health and become better equipped to handle adversity - on and off the course

One of the most enjoyable and fulfilling parts to my work here at GYH, is how it affords me the opportunity to “find my tribe”.

Some months ago, I shared a post on my GYH Instagram page, which explained the philosophy behind our tagline, “Embrace the Rough, Cherish the Fairway”.

Beyond garnering a few likes amongst my existing followers, it managed to work its way through the algorithm and landed up with Dr Rashmeen Nirmal, registered Psychologist and founder of Golf PHD.

The post clearly struck a chord with Rashmeen, so much so that it prompted her to share it with her own follower base. I knew almost instantly that I’d found a kindred spirit, a fellow philophiscal thinker who recognises the profound opportunities which Golf offers up, for personal and spiritual growth.

After making contact with her and having an initial chat, it quickly became apparent that we were both on a similar wavelength, as it related to how we perceived Golf and its transformative powers.

To host Rashmeen on the GYH podcast was therefore a no brainer and I am excited for you, to be able to hear her perspective and professional expertise, around Golf, Health and Wellbeing.

During this week’s episode, we cover:

  • The Intersection of Psychology and Golf

  • Mental Health Awareness in Sports

  • Rashmeen's personal experiences with Mental Health and how they have shaped her life's work

  • Why having structure is key to mastering the mental game

  • Understanding Cognitive Load in Golf

  • How to quiet a busy mind on the Golf course

  • Embracing the Rough, Cherishing the Fairway
